My name is David Vatland, and I was born and raised in Vero Beach, Florida. Over the years, I’ve also lived in Tallahassee and Miami, but Vero Beach will always be where my story began. My journey eventually brought me to Owensboro, Kentucky, through a business opportunity that aligned with my lifelong passion for the automotive industry.
I’ve been around cars my entire life, but I’ve been professionally involved in the car business since 2001. I’ve been with VASS CDJR since its very inception, and it’s been incredible to help build something from the ground up alongside like-minded individuals. VASS was founded by 3’s Company Auto and three business partners who share the same goal — to make the car-buying experience easy, transparent, and customer-focused.
What I love most about working at VASS is exactly that: our shared passion and vision for what the automotive experience should be. We work hard to ensure customers feel supported, informed, and excited about their purchase. That’s the foundation of everything we do.
Outside of work, I enjoy being on the water and staying active through hobbies like fishing, boating, surfing, skiing, and snow skiing. When I get the chance, I also enjoy hunting. These activities allow me to reconnect with nature and recharge away from the demands of business ownership.
What makes me unique is that I’m a third-generation auto dealer, with the fourth generation already following in our family’s footsteps. Our family of dealerships spans multiple brands across two states, and we have a vision to expand into even more states across the South and Southeastern United States. My drive comes from a deep-rooted passion for the industry and a relentless dedication to both work and family.
At the end of the day, I’m not just in the car business — I’m part of a legacy. And I’m committed to growing that legacy with integrity, energy, and a focus on the people we serve.
